Sabres Silence Wild

Buffalo Victorious in Minnesota

Sabres 3 – Wild 2 (SO) The Wild wore their North Stars tribute uniforms and ironically, the Sabres did not score a goal themselves until the shootout, the first Sabres goal came from a rebound that deflected off a Minnesota player and into the net, the second Sabres goal credited to Buffalo was after a Minnesota player swatted the puck with his glove into his own net.

Closest Sabres player gets the credit

Buffalo remains the NHL elite penalty killers stopping the Wild on three attempts, and Sabres rookie (G) Ellis won his fourth game out of six starts assisted by his teammates allowing Minnesota with the 3rd Best record in the Western Conference just 3 SOG during the third period earning the Sabres a tie, then Buffalo scored three times in four shootout rounds for the win.

(C) Ostlund scores the shootout winner

The first Norwegian hockey player to participate in an NHL game happened once in 1958, recently Minnesota Wild’s (RW) Mats Zuccarello with his assist last night became the first player from Norway to earn 700 points in the NHL.

The Buffalo Sabres host the Winnipeg Jets this Monday night at 7:30 pm before embarking on a six-game road trip that begins in Philadelphia and ends in Seattle.

Buffalo Bedeviled at Home

Ruff crushed by former team

Sabres 0 – Devils 5 The Sabres looked good yesterday, except for goaltending, Buffalo launched 42 SOG as well as forcing New Jersey to absorb 20 blocks, the Sabres number one standing as the NHL’s premier penalty killers remains intact as they stopped the Devils on the power play, and (C) Thompson successfully participated in a revenge fight versus (RW) Noesen who had hit Tage with a cheap high hit in their last game.

The Buffalo Sabres are in the great state of Minnesota to take on the third best team in the Western Conference who are riding a seven-game winning streak, the Wild are absolutely rolling, and the Sabres will have to give it everything they have to bounce back with a win tonight at 8 pm.

Happy Thanksgiving

In my senior year of high school the day before Halloween, this episode aired, I wish to thank the Canadian company Crosscut Films out of Saskatchewan for their time and efforts restoring this clip to one of the clearest versions I have seen over the previous holidays.

Tired from too much turkey or not, the Buffalo Sabres are hosting the New Jersey Devils tomorrow afternoon at four o’clock.

FHL Update Nov 24

League & Division lead

Here along the Lake I accumulated the second highest score for this week’s matchup and maintain my division and the League lead.

My opponent last week scored 37 points in one night but then could only muster single digit scores for four of the other six nights falling short of 100 points for the week.

TRANSACTIONS

This Monday I and asher1961-1 were actively using the waiver wire, unfortunately I was clicking my mouse to quickly and picked-up (LW) Zucker by mistake and dropped him immediately and selected (LW) Neighbours who is sporting a 2.1 fantasy points average in his first 10 games, will he produce more productively than (C) Protas who I originally dropped to make room on my roster, tonight will tell.

Here is my line-up for tonight’s seven NHL games hopefully a good start to the week versus Zach’s Honorable Team the second-place team in the East Division who has a strong team and will challenge me this weekly matchup.

Sabres Silence Hurricanes

3-game regular season series tied at one

Sabres 4 – Hurricanes 1 (en) Buffalo and Carolina each have beaten each other at their home rinks this season with the rubber match coming on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday January 19th, 2026, an afternoon game (1:30 pm) in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Sabres (C) McLeod assists on (RW) Tuch’s power play goal

The first period was maddening, the Sabres took the 1-0 lead on the power play and then shortly thereafter scored again, but the officials and the HQ in Toronto ruled “goaltender interference” (no clear rules on this) and disallowed the goal, video replay highlights the Buffalo player was clearly out of the blue ice and the Carolina netminder had time and did reset.

Sabres (LW) Malenstyn passes the puck in front of the defending Hurricanes player

Then the officials called a phantom penalty on Buffalo which video replay again clearly shows that the offending Buffalo player did not touch the Carolina player who on video replay can be seen reaching too far forward and fell on his own, the Sabres killed off that Hurricanes power play.

Sabres (LW) Malenstyn retrieves his own pass

Buffalo had held Carolina to just one SOG for approximately the first 15 minutes of the first period, then chaos during another penalty kill in front of the Sabres net as one Sabres player fell onto a sprawling (G) Luukkonen and another Sabres player in an attempt to clear the puck put it to a Carolina player in open ice who shot the puck into a gapping net to tie the game at one apiece to end the first period.

Sabres (LW) Malenstyn takes the shot

The Second period was much better as the Sabres scored early and late in the period to take a commanding 3-1 lead, with the third goal a beautiful deke the defender & breakaway goal by (LW) Malenstyn (2nd goal of the season) with less than two minutes remaining in the period.

Sabres (LW) Malenstyn scores critical third goal putting Buffalo up by two

Carolina had pulled their goaltender with at least three minutes remaining in the game and kept control for the most part, but Sabres (G) Luukkonen was excellent and once Buffalo regained possession it turned into an easy give-and-go between (C) Thompson and (LW) Benson for the empty netter and the 4-1 victory over the Eastern Conference leader.
