Tuesday Trivia November 26th

Last week’s answer: Martin Biron

Wooden Sticks The shift from playing with wooden sticks began nearly seventy seasons ago when manufacturers began reinforcing sticks with fiberglass producing lighter more manageable sticks.

In the mid-90s carbon fiber technology introduced a composite blade which is still the standard today, we have seen aluminum shafts and technology create a one-piece composite stick, so superior to wooden sticks everyone utilizes them.

Today’s Trivia: Who do you think was the last player to use a wooden stick in the NHL?

A) Gretzky

B) Ennis

C) Dion

D) Aucoin

    1. I guessed Aucoin, which I guess is similar because it starts with the letter A. 😉

I bet when Gretzky started playing he used a wooden stick but I don’t know if he played professional hockey before the other players given as choices for the answer.

  1. Interesting topic and I might have a shot at getting the right answer. 🙂

    My guess: Aucoin?

Then I read the preamble out loud to Oldfan and before I had a chance to give him the options, he said “Al MacInnis” and said the fiberglass sticks he had lasted longer than the wooden ones. I said to him I guess that’s similar to the progression of tennis racquets (my sport back in the day).

    Have a nice day everyone!
