Columbus Sails to Victory

Blue Jackets take revenge

Blue Jackets 6 (en) – Sabres 3  They said it would be different in Ohio after Columbus was solidly beat in Buffalo by the Sabres in that they would be playing a more veteran lineup, but with less than two minutes in the second period and Buffalo leading 2-0, it did not seem so.

Fortunately for the Blue Jackets their veterans did recover to score once before the second period ended and then proceeded to play to their level and scored five more times in third period to extract something positive out of this preseason matchup.

The “preseason Sabres” host an undefeated Detroit team Monday night to close out their 2024 preseason schedule and then it is only three days and a bowl of cereal before Buffalo begins the NHL 2024-25 regular season.

  1. Oops I forgot there are more preseason Sabres games when I wrote my reply to your last article.

I do not know the Columbus Blue Jackets preseason record so far but at the outset of this new season I felt that they might be more of a contender this season because of the tragic loss of Mr. Johnny Gaudreau and brother Mr. Matthew Gaudreau. I expect the team will dedicate this season to the memory of both men and will honour them by playing well and having more success.

    1. Sure, at times emotions can drive an athlete to a higher level of play, possibly difficult to sustain that emotion all season, but a rallying point none the less.

I remember when the Penguins lost their beloved head coach, Bob “Badger” Johnson after becoming Stanley Cup Champions then went on to win the Cup again, perhaps the Blue Jackets can raise their play this season.
