Oilers Paper Tigers

Panthers Keep Calm and Carry On

Florida 4 – Edmonton 3 (Finals Panthers 3-0)  Edmonton hosted a Finals game to the delight of their fans who partied inside and outside the arena but the Oilers just could not match the Panthers’ level of play and although Edmonton made the game close at times, eventually the better team won.

Florida’s growth from experience as a team from where they were in the Finals last season to this season’s domination of their Cup opponent is impressive, while Edmonton appears similar to what Florida looked like in the Finals last year…a bit overwhelmed.

History highlights a team in the Stanley Cup Finals can overcome a 0-3 deficit to win the series next four games and the Cup, it does seem unlikely, but this is how history is made or will this become the 21st sweep of the Stanley Cup Finals?

  1. My answer is yes. This Stanley Cup Finals could be a sweep after watching last night’s game in Oil land.

I don’t believe Edmonton has it in them to make it back from the abyss but I will continue to cheer them on in the hope that miracles can happen.

    1. It has been a tough road these Finals for Edmonton fans, I do not see Florida collapsing completely and losing the next four…but the reason we play the games is because we just do not entirely sure of the outcome.

      1. While I believe there is a chance Edmonton takes tonight’s do-or-die game, I also believe it is going to be exceptionally difficult to escape the clutches of their very hungry opponents.

Tbh, I feel for the Edmonton fans who have been top notch but, you know, if they lose in this Stanley Cup Finals, I think they can feel optimistic for next season.

      2. I also appreciate the Edmonton fan base, and I do see the Oilers getting back to the Finals next season, who knows with the experience earned in this seasons playoffs they could accomplish what Florida seems to be doing.
