Sabres 2023 Preseason Schedule

Highlighted with Kraft Hockeyville Celebration

The Buffalo Sabres play seven preseason games that include a trip to St. Thomas to play the Toronto Maple Leafs at the Joe Thornton Community Centre on the 27th of September.

Kraft Hockeyville winner West Lorne near St. Thomas are both above the middle Northern Lake Erie shoreline in Ontario separated by a 45-minute drive and about three hours from either Buffalo or Toronto which gives the “home-ice” nod to the Leafs.

This is Buffalo’s fifth appearance in Kraft’s Hockeyville NHL preseason games.

The first two Buffalo Sabres preseason contests begin with a Sunday two o’clock road game versus the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena on September 24th then Tuesday the 26th at 7pm Buffalo hosts Boston at the Key Bank Center.

The last four preseason games are against opponents Pittsburgh and Columbus both home and home series over the end of September and beginning of October with one afternoon game.

Buffalo at Washington          September 24, Capital One Arena 2pm

Boston at Buffalo                  September 26, Key Bank Center 7pm

Buffalo at Toronto                 September 27, Hockeyville JTCC TBA

Buffalo at Pittsburgh             September 28, PPG Paints Arena 7pm

Kraft Foods Inc. has for over the last 17 seasons donated millions of dollars to communities across Canada so each municipality could upgrade their arena and receive youth Hockey equipment.

Since 2015 the United States of America Kraft Hockeyville has been in operation also providing Hockey passionate communities across the USA with upgrades and youth Hockey equipment.

The NHLPA Goals & Dreams fund also contributes thousands of dollars of youth equipment to all four community finalists.

These corporate events connected to NHL preseason games are a boon to pocket-sized communities and their Hockey passionate populace and if cheese sales increase it does not matter this is good for everyone connected and Hockey in general.

  1. Thanks Buffalo Winter. Do you and your family ever attend Sabres preseason games?

Also, speaking of the NHL Players’ Association, I just heard this morning on the news that the NHLPA has just launched a program to help its members prepare for life after hockey since the transition can be a real struggle. Sportsnet is reporting that players will have the opportunity to do a personality analysis and delve into real estate, business or other avenues while they are still in the league. To be honest, I had assumed most players have interests outside of hockey and connections that could be used as a springboard to pursue post hockey goals. Clearly I’ve been naïve.

    1. Your welcome P_g,

Nope, I am the only family member willing to go to development camp, preseason, and the regular season expensive games, lol

NHLPA does a lot of good things, most professional Hockey players have been skating and playing Hockey since they were old enough to stand, so when their NHL career is over and if not picked up by a network or team for some position, it must be rough transitioning, when I was in the Navy we had to take a class at the end or our enlistment to learn how to become a civilian again, but we were not paid millions or hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of our career similar to NHL players to make the transition more…luxurious, lol.

We all transition at some point in our lives I believe, school for example, how anxious it was for the first day of high school and then the last day?

      1. Kudos to Kraft Food Inc. for its generosity over the years towards the game of hockey and communities.

We hope to watch the Buffalo game against Toronto this week.

Maybe we can use a thread at the island to talk live about the game while it is being played.

      2. I also believe acknowledgement and appreciation for the Kraft associates that put this all together for the communities is well deserved.

I am looking forward to the Leafs and Sabres providing some preseason entertainment.

Game threads on the Island are very enjoyable, great graphics and GIFs when someone scores and often valid officiating observations, lol.

      3. I just looked it up.

Congrats on the team’s win (4-4) yesterday in a shoot out.

I am curious to see how your team fares against the Boston Bruins in their preseason game match up.

    1. No problems, I actually thought we lost in OT, I had gotten distracted and missed that it was in a shoot-out and turned off the radio after Washington had scored first before the Sabres scored the next two, lol, I apparently need my own training camp as well
