No matter what time you have to go to bed tonight there is a start time to match your schedule, 5:30, 8:00, and 10:30 p.m.

NHL rosters are set and your FHL roster could possibly be improved utilizing the waiver wire, from September 26^th until this morning Buffalo Winter has made four waiver wire transactions attempting to improve the team.

Remember if you are attempting to be a successful FHL team manager you are going to have to put aside a few minutes each day to “manage” your team, real life is more important and things happen during a 22-week FHL season, but you have to pay attention.

Beginning today and every Tuesday until the end of the regular season “Tuesday Trivia” will be a regular feature highlighting Buffalo Sabres history and everything and everyone connected to our team here along the Lake.

One of the most recognizable hockey traditions to most sports fans is the “Hat Trick” and only in hockey do you observe fans expressing appreciation for their team’s player’s accomplishments by flinging their chapeaus, from fedoras to baseball caps, onto the playing surface.

No less than three companies in three cities lay claim to initially “gifting” a fedora to a hockey player who scored three times in a game and the sport cricket also boasts of the term “Hat Trick” in their history.

No matter who really did begin this tradition it is still the fans who instituted it without influence tossing their fedoras onto the ice once word spread about what the hat company was providing for the players.

This season’s drafted roster

Each season Buffalo Winter manages one team every year on an ESPN FHL public league this season I began the first round of the draft seventh overall and selected Tage Thompson.

Competing in the Pittsburgh Pro H2H Points League East Division, Buffalo Winter and three other managers have already changed their names or dropped/added players before nine a.m. this morning.

Fantasy hockey is a time and effort commitment that requires a manager to run their team each day if they are attempting to be successful, now life is more important and things happen, but you must make some small allowance of time for your team in order to win.

Even if I do not win I enjoy managing a fantasy hockey team and put forth my best effort in each weekly matchup till the end of the 22-week fantasy season and with only one team per year.

Two league management tools to utilize are the waiver wire and watch list which work in tandem to give a manager an opportunity to add the best point-producing players into their roster.

I am no expert, but I put my team out in front highlighting what happens in real-time as I manage so as not to be a talking head (do they even play?) on some social media site handing out empty advice on how you should manage your team.

Sabres Preseason Opener & IG

Buffalo overcame a 2-0 deficit to win in a shoot-out 4-3

Special teams were not a factor as eight power plays produced no goals from either the Sabres or Capitals as Buffalo kicked off the 2023-24 season with a preseason road victory.

HC Granato refers to preseason as the second half of training camp, and with approximately 50-60 players in camp, this assessment sounds about right, with players (goaltenders looking to backup Mr. Levi) battling for roster spots.
