Scorching Hot Buffalo Wings

Sabres demolish Detroit

Buffalo 7  Detroit 3  Last night’s dominating performance highlights the positive production from the process of Buffalo’s rebuild that is not yet three seasons old.

Mr. Tuch scores 67 seconds into the game to get the party started

The addition of Mr. Byram to an already stocked offensively minded defensive corps makes the Sabres blueliners even more difficult to defend with their joining the rush to score mentality.

Mr. Byram finding offensive opportunities in Buffalo scores twice

As the Sabres continue to improve while becoming a playoff team, it is difficult to observe patiently while enjoying glimpses of what will become Buffalo’s best and those that will lead us to the Cup.

Hard checking defenseman Mr. Clifton notches one

After the Sabres host the Islanders Thursday night the belligerent Wings host the Sabres Saturday night as Buffalo begins their four game Western Conference road trip in Detroit.

Winning Twice in One Game

OP scores OT winner & Mr. Tuch scores the Sabres second shoot-out goal for the victory, again…for good.

Buffalo 3 – Edmonton 2 SO In a game where the opponent scored quickly and shorthanded for the 2-0 lead in the first period the Sabres did not throw a pity party (Mr. Tuch quote) but went to work and earned a 2-2 tie to force overtime.

As a goodwill ambassador for my city and team, Buffalo Winter was inside the arena foyer speaking to as many Oilers sweater clad fans that passed in front of me, I complimented their attire and swag and noticed only a single Commander Kane #91 sweater.

There were multiple styles and alternate Edmonton sweaters, I even seen one that was completely black, other NHL teams represented were the NYR, Blackhawks, Whalers, Nordiques (one nice blue sweater), gilded Knights, Canucks, Maple Leafs, Canadiens, Team North America, and an assortment of schools and various National team sweaters.

Mr. Thompson scoring on the power play unassisted on one knee for the Sabres first tally.

I stayed well into the first period and got home to a 2-1 game where the Sabres proceeded to out play the offensive Oilers and kept Mr. McDavid off the score sheet, along with UPL stopping 30 of 32 shots (.938%) contributing to another Sabres low scoring one-goal win.

UPL after stoning the last Oilers shooter for the victory.

League protocol requires reviewing goals in the last minute of games no coach’s challenge required, which highlighted an offsides negating OP’s OT game winner with two seconds remaining and having the teams come back out of their dressing rooms to keep playing.

Mr. Bryson scores a sweet backhander for his first of the season to tie the game.

Although the Sabres allowed a shorthanded tally they scored on their lone power play and denied the Oilers offensively latent power play three times, Edmonton managed five more shots on net, the Oilers were dominate in the face-offs but it was Buffalo who scored the most in the shoot-out.

Buffalo and Edmonton complete their two game season series Friday night on the 22nd of March the Sabres fourth game of a five game Western Conference road trip.

Buffalo Bombs Visitors 7-2

Gilded Knights Swept

Sabres 7  Knights 2 – The Sabres swept their two game season series with the Cup champions 5-2 and 7-2 and it did not matter if jackie vegas was there or not, Nevada desert or here, Mr. Levi or UPL, Buffalo out-scored the Knights by a three to one margin in both games.

Mr. Cozens scored short-handed twice, Mr. Skinner scored while earning two assists, Mr. Mittelstadt continues his positive play with a goal and his 33rd assist, with OP scoring a beauty while also contributing two assists.

Buffalo out-shot their opponent so profusely that the Knights had nearly 30 blocked shots for the game (27), a Sabres four goal third period crushed any hope of a Nevada comeback after Buffalo earned a 3-2 lead towards the end of the second period.

The Sabres have no time to rest on their laurels [7-3-0, W2] as the Winnipeg Jets fly into town to sample Buffalo hospitality tonight for a seven o’clock puck drop, then Buffalo heads to Toronto for Wednesday night’s matchup.

Over Time Thriller

Another Road Victory

Buffalo 3 Tampa Bay 2 OT After weathering the initial Lightning storm, the Sabres had a strong road effort, shorthanded shots on goal, Mr. Clifton solidly checking Tampa Bay players all over the ice, Misters Thompson and Tuch providing offense, Misters Cozens, Krebs, with Benson, Girgensons and their constant pressure, OP clanging iron, and UPL!

In the first period Tampa Bay got away with one at the 10:48 mark as Mr. de Haan backhands the puck directly off the ice into the stands with the referee having no eyes on the puck to make the call.

Tampa Bay started OT with the puck but became careless and frustrated as Mr. Thompson was hooked on a clear breakaway and the Lightning earned a PN which afforded Mr. Mittelstadt and his sweet feed to Mr. Dahlin for the awesome back door winner!

Goals, Goals, & more Goals

Three Hat Tricks in one game

Wild 10 Canucks 7- The number one team in the NHL scored seven times during last night’s contest and ended up losing by three as their opponent incredibly scored five times in the first 5:12 minutes of the third period and eventually scoring two empty netters to finish the offensive onslaught.

Two Wild players and one Canucks player combined for the game’s three hat tricks, after Vancouver took an early 4-1 lead Minnesota would get one back but a successful Canucks breakaway gave Vancouver another three goal lead 5-2 with five and a half minutes remaining in the second period.

Vancouver scored twice in the third period to make it an 8-7 game but Minnesota scored two happy net goals in the remaining two minutes of the game for the 10-7 final and set their team record for most goals in a game.

Not to be out done…

Calgary, Carolina, and Edmonton teams all scored six times and won by 6-3 in each of their three contests.

Awesome Matthews

The Maple Leafs beat the Blues 4-2 last night and Mr. Matthews scored his NHL leading 49th goal of the season and the next closest four players in the league are all still in the 30 goal range.

Road Warriors

The Sabres take their winning road record to the test beginning tomorrow night as Buffalo plays three consecutive road games versus Montreal, Tampa Bay, and Columbus before returning home to face Carolina Sunday night making it four games in five nights for the Sabres.
