Utah Hockey Club

The UTAH Hockey Club & the NHL want your vote

UTAH Name Vote until June 20  I cast my vote, will it count, in all probability it will not influence UTAH in its franchise naming, but I wanted to go on record and respond to their TOP SIX names.

Utah Venom  Only because there are more rattlesnakes with colorful names than you could hope to know about, but the NHL already has ducks, penguins, and sharks they really do not need any snakes.

Utah Hockey Club (Utah HC)  Generic and unimaginative.

Utah Blizzard  Considering Cottonwood Canyon, Utah is one of snowiest places on Earth, but most hockey fans equate Utah with desert climate not winter.

Utah Outlaws  A winner all day long, the ultimate underdog outlier against all odds and a dark sweater design that plays into a team with an attitude.

Utah Yeti  I sincerely hope they do not name their franchise after a camping cooler.

Utah Mammoth  A Mammoth what?, a Wooly Mammoth or Mammoth Falls, too ambiguous.

  1. The colours are kind of ok, imho. I guess they went with them because Utah has mountains and it gets really cold in the winter.

I agree with you that Outlaws is the best choice if those are the only options available.

Should they go with Outlaws, I wonder what kind of design they use for a team logo. Haha go with Yosemite Sam if there’s no copyright? Hockey sticks that look like revolvers?

I wonder if they will also have a vote on the logo once they reach that stage of development.

Anyways, fun to discuss so thank you for starting this topic. I don’t know if Canadians can vote but I will give it a try!

    1. The colours are basically black & white with blue trim, I appreciate less is more when designing a hockey sweater.

Yosemite Sam, good1 and I do not believe the NHL will allow Utah to use “guns” for their logo, imho.

From what I have read on the NHL site the contest is open to everyone with a internet connection but you can only vote once, and I thought since I did not live in Utah I could not vote, turns out that was not the case, so go and cast your vote P_g.
