Anaheim benefits from happy net goal

The Buffalo Sabres scored two goals while the goaltender was pulled with just over five minutes remaining in the game but the third one proved to be elusive as Anaheim gets an empty netter to escape losing to Buffalo with a 4-2 score.

The Sabres on a West Coast three game road trip continues tonight versus the Los Angeles Kings the number one wild card seeding in the Western Conference boasting an 8-8-6 home record that the Sabres can ruin before heading to San Jose Saturday afternoon.

The Oilers continue to win as they inch ever closer to the NHL record of consecutive wins of 17 games set by the Pittsburgh Penguins with victory number 14 and goaltender Mr. Skinner posted a .964 save percentage as the Columbus Blue Jackets fell 4-1 to Edmonton last night.

Reduced to playing the spoiler, Buffalo Winter has earned the third highest point total for the week thus far, endeavoring to win out and give each opponent a run for their money.

Does anyone want the Edmonton Oilers to break the NHL record? I know how I feel.

I am a fan of the Penguins, I lived in Pittsburgh approximately 13 months back in 1983/84 and I attended their games right before they drafted Mario Lemieux, soooo I would rather the Sabres chase this record but the Oilers are a fine team with a bunch of talent, if the Oilers do break, not tie the record, it will give me something to talk about with the only Misfit that is a Edmonton fan, I get to highlight how wonderful Commander Kane is, lol

Speaking of Mario Lemieux, I don’t know if it is still required or if it even still happens but back then (I recall from having visited the Hockey Hall of Fame here in Toronto) the HHOF inducted him without requiring the 3-year waiting period. I don’t know how many other professional hockey players have had this happen to them.
I think Edmonton Oilers have a very good chance of breaking the record because their upcoming games look compratively lightweight. The top team (Canucks) in the Pacific Division doesn’t play the Oilers for a long while so Vancouver is not a factor but the second top team in the Pacific Division ranked just above the Oilers is the Golden Knights that they play next Tuesday which I think could put a damper on Edmonton’s streak. Just my opinion, mind you.

I went to the Hockey Hall of Fame when it was at the CNE, back in the mid to late 1980s, have not been to it since.
Mr. Gretzky is the 10th and last player to be inducted into the HOF immediately, after him the HOF insisted on a three year waiting period.
I believe if they do lose it will be to Nashville or sin city.
